Rules

I know these are boring and most of them are kind of "well duh!" type rules, but make sure you at least skim them. We do a couple of things differently here, and if you don't read about it you might get confused.
#1- No Godmodding/power playing
This means that sometimes your pokemon faint, and that you don't decide what attacks hit or not. You only control your own characters. For example, you might say "Meowth growled angrily and lashed out a Scratch attack." But you may not say "Meowth used a Scratch attack, making the Oddish cringe in pain." Because you do not control the Oddish, you cannot decide if the attacks hits or not. Also, remember that you cannot dodge very often.
#2- Please keep it PG-13
We want this site to be friendly for everyone. This means no outlandish violence or graphic love affairs. Also, I would prefer it if you kept all swearing to a minimum. Use it as a spice to really emphasize a point rather than littering all your posts with profanities. If swearing frequently is a personality trait of one of your characters, please find a more creative way to express it. (e.g He swore appreciatively. She cursed loudly in disappointment.)
#3-Keep the role play and real life separate
Just because you hate a character doesn't mean you should hate the player. We need good villains and downright nasty people in order to give the role play more depth. If you have an issue with another player, don't rant about it all over the boards. Work out your differences, or ask a moderator to step in.
#4-Some notes about character creation
No character is perfect. Remember to add flaws as well as strengths when making your characters. There are pokemorphs in Airore (this is the mistake region after all). Here at Airore pokemorphs are humans with pokemon attributes, such as an Espeon tail or Swellow wings or blue skin like a Poliwag. These traits are genetic, and are inherited from family. There is also a black market for acquiring altering drugs, but these are very expensive and don't always work as intended. Pokemorphs are an accepted part of the community at large, and are not simply fodder for human experimentation. When making a pokemorph character, please try to keep them unique. It gets boring if there are eight umbreon and five pikachu 'morphs running around.
#5- Keep your PC updated!!!
Each member is responsible for having a PC for each character, and keeping the information in that PC up to date. The moderators will look at your PC when making important decisions, such as when your pokemon evolves, what pokemon you might meet on a route, and if you are power-playing or not. If you don't update your PC, you are the only one who suffers. Also, we would prefer if you had a link to your character's PC somewhere in your signature. You can have as many characters as you can fit links for.
#6- Rules of Leveling up
If a pokemon beats another pokemon of a lesser level, it will gain half a level. If a pokemon beats another pokemon of an equal or one higher level, it will gain one level. If a pokemon beats another pokemon of two levels or more higher, it will gain two levels. If a pokemon loses or faints, it gains no levels.
#7- Rules of Evolution
Pokemon that evolve by leveling will evolve when they reach that level. Pokemon that evolve by happiness will evolve by using a heart scale. Milotic will also evolve using a heart scale. Pokemon that require locations will evolve using a star piece. The Eevee-lutions are as follows:
Vaporeon- Waterstone
Jolteon- Thunderstone
Flareon- Firestone
Espeon- Sunstone
Umbreon- Moonstone
Leafeon- Leafstone
Glaceon- Nevermeltice
Sylveon- Heart scale
#7.2- Mega Evolutions
Instead of having a mega ring or other accessory, mega stones react more like a temporary evolution stone. The pokemon must touch the mega stone to activate its mega form, which then lasts for several hours. Kind of like a stimulant, using mega stones too frequently can mess with a pokemon both psychologically and physically. They will be drained and tired after the effects wears off. If over used, the pokemon may even assume its mega form permanently. This can also be caused by ingesting the mega stone.
#8- Rules about moves
We do not limit pokemon here to only 4 moves. Instead, once a move is learned it can always be used. Moves become available by level, TM, and HMs. Visit www.serebii.net/attackdex-bw/ to see the moves available to each pokemon, and when they are learned.
#9- Legendaries
Because of our unique plot, there are more than one of each Legendary. Thus they are capture-able, though they are very rare. There are no legendary pokemorphs.
#10- Eggs
Pokemon Eggs can be obtained through various ways. They will hatch when a mod feels it is ready. This depends on how long you've had them, how much about them you put into your posts and for how long. This will take a month maximum. For example, person A and person B are both given Poochyena eggs. A holds it and includes it in every post for a whole route, and hatches it after a week. B forgets about it until it hatches a month after getting it.
#11- Moving around the region
Transportation throughout the region is rather high tech. As such, we do not expect you to start on Route 1 and walk clear through the region like you do in the video games. Everyone gets bored taking the same path to the same adventure. So, once you have finished the Haven Area, you are free to jump to any route/city you want. Say you really want to try and catch a Ponyta; go ahead and start a post in the Desert. We'd prefer it if the rest of the forum got some love, rather than waiting years for someone to finally walk through all the other areas. The only caution is that the gym leaders all have set levels, so it would be unwise to challenge the last one first. You likely wont win. But since you can travel anywhere, just go post in the first gym when you are ready.
#12- Liquid Time
Here in Airore we use an idea called liquid time. This means you can have the same character in 2 or 3 different active threads at the same time. It can get rather boring if you are stuck in a thread for two weeks because someone is on vacation and can't reply. Just be wise and don't have your character in every single area at once.
